When you think about it, maybe we should treat everything as a product.

Not everything needs to be a product, of course. But think about it. Did focusing on the value you create ever hurt you? Did making people’s strengths shine ever fail you?

Me neither. That’s why we’re here. Welcome to Ships and Shapes!

About me

I’m Yohann Degli-Esposti. I am a software engineer by training, and since joining IBM, I became an agilist, a product owner, a scrum master and finally, a product manager. I have given trainings in India, Italy, France and Sweden for IBM, helping people understand how to build good product, and what is at the core of a functioning team. On a daily basis, I help my clients understand their needs, pinpoint the value and create products that will work and be used.

But beyond that, I find in product creation a driver that matches my personality. I am a sensitive guy, creative, focused on human interactions above all else. I am fond of creating unforgettable experiences that will last a lifetime. Finally, I love to teach and coach. I help my mentees on a weekly basis finding their calling, and I contribute in IBMs’ teaching offerings.

What is Ships and Shapes?

It’s a blog, about product. A door from me to you that I will use to share my insights on product creation, team leading and coordination, and mainly the core of what matters when creating a new product or a project.

That’s why it’s named that way: Here, we learn how to ship, and to do that, we need to learn how to shape.

What can you find in here?

Articles on product thinking and what it actually means in practice. Thoughts on teams, people, and how we build things together. Honest takes on AI and where it’s actually useful. And occasionally, a game I coded or a trend worth discussing.

Not everything has to be a product. But by understanding how to ship a product, you will understand how to shape many aspects of your life.
